About Us At North American Curling Stone-
North American Curling Stone co-founders Jason Hovell and Dan Lilla have been curling as long as they can remember- both joining the junior curling program at the Centerville Curling Club in Centerville, WI in the late 1980's around the age of 8, but spent a great deal at the local curling club prior to that watching our parents play in local weekend bonspiels most weekends in the winter at the Centerville, Galesville, and La Crosse Curling Clubs in Wisconsin. Our parents are active curlers, and curled together for over 20 years- even scoring an 8-ender in league play in 1994.
Both Jason & Dan played down while in juniors, and enjoy the bonspiel circuit on weekends... even though that is becoming more challenging with both of us having young families. Dan is currently the icemaker at the Centerville Curling Club, while Jason serves on the Curling Club Board of Directors for the Centerville Curling Club.
Jason & Dan have both have spent the last 10 years as high school teachers. It was during a series of school "snow days" that we created our first two wooden curling stones in the high school wood shop. Today we use the same techniques used in our prototype stones to give our customers a unique, one-of-a kind curling stone that any curler or curling enthusiast would be proud to display.
We enjoy turning stones as a hobby, and enjoy passing on our enthusiasm for wood turning, shaping, and building from raw materials on to our students. Our students are exposed to basic techniques, skills and equipment in our classes, and we are happy to announce that all proceeds from stones made during the 2016 calendar year will be donated back to the local schools to enhance their vocational and technical education departments to maintain and improve their facilities.
